- Abstract:
- This section contains a poem written by Sh. Abdalla al-Husniy, a famous religious scholar at the Hanisa Mosque in Mjua Kale, Mombasa. The content is a religious admonition to instruct the Muslim community on how to abide by the Islamic values and duties and not to follow any forbidden activities. Sh. Abdalla was very famous for composing Waadhi at the time of the Maulidi celebration that he used to organise at the Anisa Mosque. The Maulidi celebration at the Anisa Mosque was very famous across East Africa. The waadhi is followed by a short Utendi about a woman instructing her daughter on how to behave with her husband. This poem is similar in content to the famous poem ‘Utendi wa Mwana Kupona’ where Mwana Kupona is instructing her daughter on wifely duties. ( en )
