500        |a Biographical history: Kartar Singh Duggal was born into a Sikh family in 1917 in Dhamal, near Rawalpindi. He was educated at Forman Christian College, Lahore. In March 1947, he was working for All India Radio in Lahore. In early August 1947 he was transferred to All India Radio in Delhi. He witnessed the Delhi riots. Duggal became station Director for All India Radio. He became a noted author of short stories, novels, plays and literary criticism. He married Ayesha Duggal (née Jafri), a doctor from a Muslim family.
