Abstract:
The first section, SL31, contains an incomplete paper by David Aoko about African Independent Churches in Nairobi. In the second envelope, SL32, there is a language survey questionnaire in Swahili and English. There is no date or name of author. In SL33, there are two papers. First, a paper by G R Katongole, from Uganda, about multi-lingual problems in a developing society, presented at the East African Conference on Language and Linguistics, Dar es Salaam, 1968. The Other paper is by M H Abdulaziz, in consultation with Ali Mazrui, about Swahili and English bilingualism. The second envelope, SL 34, contains a paper by Marvin Bender and Robert Cooper entitled ‘The Prediction of between-language Intelligibility’ presented at the Second International Congress of Applied Linguistics, Cambridge, in 1969. The study assess intelligibility between related languages, and the Sidano group, from southern Ethiopia, was chosen for the investigation. In SL35, there is a paper presented by Susan Ervin-Tripp entitled ‘Becoming A Bilingual’. The paper was part of Language-Behaviour Research Laboratory Finally, in SL36, there is a paper by Robert Cooper entitled ‘How can we measure the roles which a bilingual’s languages play in his everyday behaviour?’ however there is no date or mention when and where the paper was presented.
