Abstract:
In this section there are a few prayers in the language of the Mijikenda people. In the past, the Mijikenda people were called WaNyika and their language KiNyika, however the root ‘-nyika’ is not used anymore. They comprise nine different ethnic groups that include the Giriama, Rabai, and Chonyi people living in inland East Africa, in what is today Kenya. The material of this section was collected and transcribed by the missionary George David in 1870. ( en )
