520 3    |a These miscellaneous notes were collected by Rev. Taylor during his stay in Mombasa, and gathering from the dates included they were written between 1882 and 1893. W. Hichens, in 1936, collated the notes into the present volume after having purchased the material from Mrs Taylor. The material is still quite disorganized and many of the notes are unreadable. Some are written in Arabic script while the rest in Roman script. Some pages are headed papers of the Church Missionary Society, of which Taylor was a representative in East Africa. The material includes proverbs and riddles in Swahili and Giryama, traditional songs and songs for children, a letter and correspondence notes, a few short poems, and general notes about the use of the Swahili language, with some examples of sentences and expressions.
