520 3    |a This section of MS 47754 contains religious poems transcribed for Taylor by Abdalla bin Rashid, Khalfan bin Abdallah bin Rashid al-Mazrui, Ayud bin Salim b. Suleiman, Maalim Musa, Ali Koti, Wali Hamed, and Sayyid Muhammed Muhathar. Among the poems, we closely looked at the poem transcribed by Khalaf bin Abdalla, where the author asks God to bring health and happiness, and at the interesting poetic dialogue between Maalim Musa and Ali Koti discussing the proper practice of prayer. In this section, there is also a short hadithi (story) about a gazelle, as well as an incomplete Utenzi (long poem). At page 36 (25), there is historical information about the Coast that is here called Ngozi, the old name used for the Swahili Coast. The material discusses the end of Shehe Mvita’s rule, and the arrival of the Arabs who destroyed many of the old towns. This section ends with a collection of Muslim prayers.
