Notes

Abstract:
At page 4 of this section of MS 47754, referred as section X, the first of this volume, there is the poem about the tailors of Mombasa. According to Frankl &Yahya (1994) there should be a second version in the final section of the volume. However, in what is referred as Section Z, page 161, we have found the song ‘The Mzigo Song’ by Ali Koti. There seems to be no further information about Ali wa Udi, the author of the poem. The poem narrates the life of the tailors of Mombasa and the skills required for this highly specialized craftsmanship. ( en )
