520 3    |a This section contains two incomplete poems that narrates religious events The first concerns Muawiya bin Abii Sufiani, one of the Prophet’s companions at the time of the caliphate succession. Muawiya names Hussein, grandson of the Prophet, and not his own child, Zaid bin Muawiya, zs his successor. The story begins at the time of Muawiya’s final illness, when he informs his child Zaid that Hussein will be the successor to the caliphate. Zaid pretens to accept his father’s choice, but once Maawiya dies he begins to oppose Hussein. This will lead to war between the capliphs, and eventually to the division of the Sunni and Shi’ite. These last events are not discussed in the manuscript, which is incomplete. The following hadithi is about the life of Issa, Jesus, and his mOther Mary-amu. The text that we have apparently lacks some preliminary material. The story opens with information about the mOther of Maryamu (Mary), before Maryamu was conceived. A vow (nadhiri) is made by Maryamu’s mOther that if she can have a child she will give her/him to the Mosque to be a helper. And so it happens that Maryamu becomes a cleaner in the Mosque. Jibril then comes to blow on Maryamu, a rite that brings about the conception of Issa. Maryamu is at first ashamed of being pregnant, but Jibril brings comfort and support to her. The story continues with further incident in the life of Issa and his preaching, and concludes with his ascent to heaven, and the promise of his return. In general, the reading of both hadithi is quite smooth and the scripts are clear. The northern dialect is used by the scribe, but the author is not mentioned anywhere in the text.
