|a This very well preserved manuscript contains the English-Giryama vocabulary compiled by Rev. Taylor, and published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in 1891, London. The manuscript version contains also additional material and notes about the Giryama language written by Taylor, not included in the published version. The first part contains material about the Giryama language and culture. The material includes information about the habitat, phonology, grammar, as well as the relation between Giryama and Swahili languages. The first page is folded and contains information about the structure of Bantu languages. On page 8 we find a pocket page containing two folded large pages with a Table of linguistics material on Gyriama concords and class prefixes. The second part contains material on the language verbal structure with its forms and derivatives, with examples. And, finally, we find the Giryama-English vocabulary, with appendix and notes at the end. |
