|a ‘Mashairi ya Faraidhwi’ is a poem that outlines Islamic laws of inheritance. Like many Other poems written to explain complex subjects ‘Mashairi ya Faradhwi’ is sometimes difficult to understand. Presenting such detailed and precise information as a legal code within the strictures of the ‘shairi’ form would challenge any poet; and here the legal outline sometimes twists confusingly around the poetic lines. Additional explanation of the inheritance laws, such as that of Sheikh Al-Amin bin Ali Al-Mazrui, who published a small book on the subject in 1943, would assist readers of this poem. |
