520 3    |a This manuscript version of the Utenzi wa Miqdadi contains many errors. Although we probably cannot be certain that this is the exact manuscript that Allen (1971) refers to as ‘H,’ many of its errors do seem (as Allen suggests for ‘H’) to be attributable to the typist. Most notably, the rhymes become confused from stanza 487 until the end. In this portion of the poem, the typist seems to have misarranged the stanzas; lines that would rightly be third become first, and the first lines of stanzas become third, so that what would be the final ‘a’ rhyme of each stanza occurs in the second line. Although most of the poem’s narrative is essentially the same as Allen (1979), its lexical content differs significantly from that version, making comparison interesting.
