This extract from The Times of 1 July 1910 treats Germany’s recognition, by treaty in 1890, of ‘Britain’s protectorate over the dominions of the Sultan of Zanzibar and Witu.’ By the same treaty, Britain conceded the island of Heligoland to Germany. ( en )
