Notes
- Abstract:
- The author with the surname Rutter writes on trading in and around Lamu. F.W. Isaac comments briefly on wages; marketable goods; the effects of a legislated change in currency (the replacement of the rupee with the florin and shilling, c. 1920); and the hut tax, which he describes as ‘unpopular as it raises a question of colour, which is resented by all with even a small degree of Arab blood.’ ( en )
