Abstract:
In these three letters of 1938 to William Hichens, dated 14/7, 19/8 and 7/9, Arthur E. Robinson discusses various aspects of East African history and an exchange of papers between himself and his correspondent. He provides Hichens with short extracts from historical works; one extract is in French. The main subjects of the letters are the history and customs of peoples of the East African coast, and theories about the origins of these peoples. The discussion envelops such subjects as trade routes and donkey breeds. ( en )
