Abstract:

The volume also contains the following: two leaves of notes on Pemba; three leaves of notes on ‘Zanzibar and Tumbutu’; a leaf on the ‘Wa Baurii’ and one on the genealogy of the ‘Ba-Urii family’; a leaf on the genealogy of the ‘Ba-Alui family’; three leaves on the ‘sultans of vumba kuu’; three leaves on the genealogy of the ‘Ba-Amiri family’; a note on the town of ‘Ozi,’ near Malindi; a translation of extracts from a book by Seyyid Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Hussein Al-Mash’hur on the descendants of the Prophet Mohammed; 12 leaves of notes on the ‘Diwans of Vumba’; three leaves of notes on regions of the East African coast; a note concerning ‘early gold traffic,’ including the inscription from ‘Queen Hatasu’s mortuary temple at Thebes,’ c. 1450 B.C., and a reference to ‘Amu.’ At least a portion of these notes derives from writing by Arthur Robinson. That writing is not named, however, and whether it was published is not known. ( en )
