Abstract:
This manuscript contains the material for chapter five of an unpublished book ‘History of Swahili Literature’. This section of MS 53507 contains oral history information on Pate during the period 13th-14th century. This serves as an introduction to sections that deal with specific periods of that history, but includes a few poems in old Kipate dialect.
