Notes
- Abstract:
- The first 27 pages of MS 53496 contain a handwritten and transliterated draft of a poem that has been entitled ‘The Mukhtasar’, by Sh. Sayyid Mansab, a Sharif from Lamu. Literally, ‘mukhtasar’ means ‘a shortened version’, and the lead researcher doubts that this is the real name of the poem. It is certainly a Maulidi poem of 84 stanzas, narrating the life of the Prophet. The name of the scribe, Abdallah b. Rashid, appears at the end of the poem. There is also a translation in English of 14 stanzas. Much of the material in this section is written on the back of Other documents. Only the handwritten pages are relevant. ( en )
