Abstract:
This section of MS 53489 contains the correspondence between Rev. Taylor and his informants, from Mombasa, in the late 1880s. Ahmad bin Muhammed was a prominent member of the WaMvita people of Mombasa, and because of his wide knowledge of Swahili language and culture, he was the most important informant of Rev. Taylor.
