520 3    |a This miscellaneous section contains some letters of correspondence between Hichens and Mbarak Ali Hinawy, and a letter to Hichens by Prof. A Klingenheben in German. It also includes correspondence between Hichens and the School of Oriental and African Studies regarding the Taylor papers and manuscripts, as well as a worried letter by Hichnes asking for the whereabouts of copies of his manuscripts given to Alice Werner. This section contains also correspondence between Hichens and Prof. Doke, of the University of Wits, Johannesburg, and Editor of the Journal ‘Bantu Studies’, regarding the possibility of publishing a ‘Swahili Series’ of Hichens Mss. The reply from the Journal’s board was negative in terms of publishing the whole collection, but they agreed to publish the ‘Chronicle of Lamu’ in the 1939 edition, and they said they might consider a special issue on Swahili short poems. Prof. Doke also showed an interest in Mwalimu Sikujua’s manuscripts on traditional medicine.
