520 3    |a This manuscript contains a hadithi, or short story, written in Swahili in Roman script. One of the character in the story is the fictitious wise man called Bwanawasi, often present in short stories about moral values or social behaviour. It is worth mentioning that Bwanawasi is a historical figure that lived in Baghdad during the Abbassi period around 130 AH (748 AD). His real name was Hasan bin Hani-I and he was a poet. In this particular hadithi, Bwanawasi is helping a young boy to marry the daughter of the Sultan. The Sultan is setting tough conditions to be met in order to marry his daughter, however Bwanawasi with his good and wise advices manages to help the boy fulfilling his dream. This is a humourous story like Others in the same MS 193290.
