Notes
- Abstract:
- This manuscript contains first a poem in Arabic with interlinear translation in Swahili entitled ‘Tabaraka Dhul-alai’. Regarding the rhyming system, the Arabic lines end in -i whereas the Swahili lines end in -ma. The poem is incomplete. This is followed by verses of the Qur’an together with a Dua, religious admonition. Then, we find a short poem in Swahili instructing women on marital matters, and finally there is a long poem in Swahili by Manswab Abdi Rrahmani teaching the Muslim community about the pillars of Islam, i.e. Shahada, Swala, Zaka, fasting at Ramadan, Hija.
