Abstract:
The poem contained here is a religous poem entitled ‘Kasida ya Aqidatu-l-awamm’, which is a translation from the Arabic version entitled ‘Aqidatu-l-awamm’. The content of the poem provides information to the Muslim community about Islamic beliefs. The poem is translated into the Kiamu dialect and has 57 verses. The Kasida is followed by a short poem about a man trying to persuade a lady to love him. The last item is a religious utendi entitled ‘Utendi wa Sayyidatina Aisha’. The poem is about the Prophet’s sorrow after the death of his wife Khadija and his concerns about who will then raise his daughter Fatima. The Prophet then decides to marry Aisha, after having seen her picture on a leaf brought to him by the Angel Jibril. ( en )
