520 3    |a This section contains first the Utendi wa Hibudi, made of 70 verses, that narrates the story of an unbeliever, referred as Yehudi. In many Islamic Swahili poem we find the character of Yehudi representing either a Jew or an Infidel, i.e. non-Muslim. The character of Yehudi is here used to discuss the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims. The Utendi is followed by a short collection of love songs of unknown authors. The final two songs of this section are about the Prophet Mohammed. The first song sings about luck brought to people when carrying a drawing of the Prophet’s shoe. Attached to this song there is a copy of the drawing. The last song is a short poem in the Maulidi genre of singing in praise of the Prophet. The Maulidi is the celebration of the birth of the Prophet and many poems are composed especially for that event.
