Notes
- Abstract:
- The first item contained in this MS is the Swahili translation from Arabic of the book entitled ‘Qur-atu-l-anbiyai’ that provides information about religious Prophets, including Prophets Adam, Idris, Nuh, Ibrahim, Isaac, Yaqub, Yussuf, Suleiman, Mussa, Aarun, Shuhaib, Ayub, Hud, Khidhr, Il Yasaa, Zackaria, Swalih, Dhul Kifl, Armiyaa, Yushaa, Shaayaa, Iskandar, Asbat (Grandchildren), Issa, Luqman, Aziz, Daniel, and finally Mohammed. The book is used by traditional soothsayer when people ask for consultations regarding particular problems or issues to be solved. The book is followed by a Dua, religious admonition, that is mainly performed orally by traditional scholars. After the Dua, however there are pages that are unreadable due to the way the scribe wrote it down. ( en )
