Notes
- Abstract:
- This section contains the famous poem entitled ‘Utendi wa Herekali’. The poem has extensively been studied by Knappert (see relevant publication field). In brief, the poem narrates of the war between Muslims, under the leadership of the Prophet Mohammed, and the Byzantine emperor Heraklios, in the town of Tabook. This is a very typical traditional epic poem combining historical facts with imaginative poetic narrative. It is beautifully written in the KiAmu dialect. ( en )
