520 3    |a This section begins with an historical poem, in Arabic, narrating of the Nabhany dynasty that moved from Oman and settled in Pate and became the ruler dynasty of the island since the end of the 19th century. The poem tells also of the historical diatribe between the Nabhany and Mazrui, on one side, who fought against the people of Lamu for the control of the archipelago. At the end of this section there is a genealogy of the Kings of Pate and Siu. The reading of this poem was quite difficult given the old Arabic language. The second section contains the famous ‘Utumbuizo wa Mwingwari’ by Fumo Liyongo, a song attributed to the Swahili mythical hero and poet-warrior. The song narrates of a wedding at the court of king Mwingwari in Shanga. Finally, there are two religious Tendi where the unknown author complains that the world has gone astray and urges the Muslim community to keep the traditional Muslim way of life.
