|a Scope and content: This humorous poem narrates the story of an encounter between a kadhi and a thief, who argue after the thief demands the kadhi's clothing. Each man recites passages from he Qur'an in his own defence. A likely source for the poem is 'Hadha Kissat al-Kadhi Ma'ah al-Haramii,' which Abou Egl (1983) reports was published in 1886 in Bombay. |
