“...in 2002 and that, in that time actually the environment in
Egypt was very frustrating, because nothing was going on. Just the whole kind of
movement was focusing on supporting Palestine, and after some time, supporting
Iraq, in 2003, when the States invade Iraq. So, just one year after I registered.... Just
one year after, actually few months after I entered university the Iraq war started,
and that was the first engagement, personal engagement, because before that I was
engaged through my mother. But that was the first kind of decision I am taking by
myself. So, 2003, March 2003, I participated in a demonstration in Tahrir Square
against the war in Iraq, and then I started activities in the University itself. Doing
some protesting events against what was happening in Iraq. And I think starting from
this point I started in 2003, until I graduated, I was very much as a movement in the

feeling that we can control the streets for the first time, and we were very young, so,
it was very impressive, and I do believe it was a very positive day, that positively
reflected on my generation, as we believed it is the time to start to think about...

is something called, "20 March for students and University staff and professors",
