She became a lecturer in political theory at Cairo University, the American University in Cairo and most recently at Asyut University in Upper Egypt. She was a coordinator for a project with the European Commission on the rights of children and public policy for 3 years. She co-founded Islam Online, a leading Islamic website discussing various religious and cultural topics, and has been active in various online media platforms during the Arab Spring. She participted in demonstrations organized by the Kefaya movement in 2005. From February 2014, She was appointed as a visiting fellow at LSE.
