Notes

Abstract:
Examples and notes upon the scripts of Tagalog, Pampanga, Javanese, Balinese, Kerinci, Buginese and Makasarese, Lampung (with short ramanised vocbulary list), Batak and Rejang. Some from published works.
Acquisition:
Bequest of William Marden
General Note:
On leaf 16, 'Bugis or Ugi and Makasar', it is remarkable that the mark in Buginese which usually represents the pepet here also stands for the final nasal velar, as is occasionally found in Makasarese Mss; eg. w with the pepet-mark above is pronounced wang. The same is found in leaf 17
General Note:
ff. 32-33 is a Buginese letter dated 6 Rabi' I A.H. 1206 [CE 1791] sent to 'my grandfather' the Ponggawa Abedorahemanf ('Abd ar-Rahman) at Pulo Pinang, asking for opium, guns, gunpowder and bullets.
General Note:
On ff. 33v a note in Malay (Arabic script) 'alamat surat p.n.ga.w [ie. ponggawa] didalam Pulau Pinang'.
