Notes

General Note:
The month-long annual chariot procession of the Rato Machhendranath god in Patan marks the beginning of the rainy season in Kathmandu and culminates with the presentation of the storied bejewelled vest calling for its claimants. The god is revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. It is housed for six months of the year in Patan and for the other six months in the ancient settlement of Bungamati.
