|a Chortens (stupas) contain sacred relics and are sites of prayer and meditation in Buddhism. The people of Jiri are a mix of indigenous Jirels, Tamangs, and Sherpas. Buddhism is practiced in some form by the latter two groups. The parasol and jewels (sun and moon) symbolising different meanings of this chorten which serve as the finial have been bent out of place. |
