Notes

General Note:
The settlement of Chisapani, lying on a ridge famous for sunrise views, exclusively catered to tourists trekking the Helambu/Langtang circuit and increasingly the weekend crowds from Kathmandu. Most of these hotels were built on government land without permits. With the buffer zone of the nearby national park being extended, these hotels are not likely to be rebuilt. Most of the hotel owners have shifted to lower down the hill to rebuild their hotels.
General Note:
Funded by GCRF (Global Challenges Research Fund) through AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council), Grant number AH/P003648/1, as "After the Earth's Violent Sway: the tangible and intangible legacies of a natural disaster", Dr. Michael Hutt, Principal Investigator.
