Abstract:
Outer Museum. --- The Outer Museum houses a carousel with silver alms bowls presided over by Thagyamin chief of the local spirits or nats. This ‘wish fulfilling carousel’ or sutaungpyi sekya was visited by Buddhist pilgrims who threw coins into the bowls while making wishes. On the rear wall is a mural by the painter Kan Lwun (1915–1985), dated 1969. It depicts the Buddha giving the First Sermon surrounded by his five disciples. ( en )
