General Note:
Probably composed in 1805 just after the outbreak of the jihad in Hausaland in 1804. In 1864 the poem was rendered by the author's son into Hausa, the version in this edition. Text "A" reflects ajami editions published by Gaskiya Corporation. Editions by private printing presses are represented in Text "B", used in this edition to compare. The poem also exists in an uncritical romanized edition
