- Bali Sugriwa. Composed by: I Wayan Bibia (2004). -- In the Balinese Ramayana there is a story of two princes, Subali and Sugriwa, condemned to the form of monkeys for their greed, who forgot all ties of kionship and morality and proceed to fight one another to death. -- Choreographed and composed by I Wayan Dibia, it explores both the refined and strong possibilities of bebancihan (cross-gender) dance style. -- The piece is intended as a warning against the dangers of excessive emotion and materialism in our contemporary world, and was composed for a residency in the AHRC in 2004. -- Once again, different moods in the dance are evoked by changing musical modes.
