Usha Khanna interviewed about her personal memories of Kashmir in 1947 and involvement in the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Left, and the CPI's cultural front and the women's self-defence corps militia. ( en )
General Note:
Biographical history: Usha Khanna (née Kashyap) was born in 1927 in Rawalpindi into a left-wing Punjabi, Kashmiri, Hindu family. She was educated at St. Joseph's convent in Srinagar. Her father was Imperial Tobacco Company distributor in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashyap joined Communist Party of India and participated in the formation of women's self-defence corps militia in 1947. A member of cultural cell of militia, Khanna helped organise plays performed in villages. She married Lahore Communist Rajbans Krishen Khanna in 1948.
