- Biographical history: Inder Cheema was born in Srinagar. In 1947, very shortly before tribesmen attacked Baramulla, Kashmir, he was evacuated to Srinagar (along with his aunt Pam and her two young children). His mother, Leela Thompson, was then already in Srinagar. His father, a Sikh, had died a few years earlier.

- Biographical history: Leela Thompson (née Pasricha) was born 1914 and was a young widow in Srinagar at the time of the raiders' attack on Baramulla, Kashmir.
