500        |a Biographical history: Major Frederic Benjamin ('Ben') Suter was born in London in 1920. He was the son of Albert Frederick Suter (1882-1966) and Ethel Beatrice Powlowski (1881-1944). He attended Sandhurst in 1939 and was commissioned into the British Indian Army in 1940. He served during the Second World War with the South Waziristan Scouts (NW Frontier Corps) & 3rd Battalion Sikh Regiment (Rattrays Sikhs). Suter learnt Urdu and Pushtu. In 1947, Suter transferred to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He married Junior Commander Marguerite Ireland, Auxiliary Territorial Service in January 1946. He was later Secretary of Sikh Regimental Association. He died 13th June 2013.
