- General Note:
- Biographical history: Vishwanath Mathur was born in around 1913 in Bihar, India. He was active in revolutionary groups in the 1930s and imprisoned Cellular Jail, Port Blair, Andaman Islands. In jail he became a Communist and was a founder member of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Bihar in 1939. Mathur was active in Freedom Fighters' organisations. He spent 18 years in the United Kingdom working for the Communist Party of Great Britain. Mathur was President of the All-India Freedom Fighters Organisation and remained a member of the CPI. He died in June 2004.
