A: 'we were on board for over 8 days ... lot of terror inside,
scare, fear ... most of time in fire of being fired at from
inside or outside ...'
Q: how did hijackers deciare themselves
A: 'I was sitting in busines class, and so were 2 of the
hijcakers ... cd see these 2 guys trying to wear monkey caps ...
within fraction of s econd, turned round with pistols and
grenades in their hands, adn that's when I realsied it was a
hijcak ...' and accent of hijcakers

A: Hindi, with Pak/K dialect ... v v Urdu
Q: not ncessarily Kashmiri
A: cd be ethnic K ... more Pak I think ... didn't know places in
India ___ liie Nainital or UP ... didn't know much about India'
Q: rapport
A: story of how told passengers about Indian sec forces in
K, '... then addressed passengers in Hindi and English, letting
people know ... we are all one big group of people in aircraft
fighting for a cause '
Q: so made pro-K speech so hijackers wd think there was some
sympathy
A: 'yes, absolutely ... make them a success in our causem and
get us out of ehre; also to show there's no panic; they ... had
at al times grenades unpinned ...'

A: (talks about encounters and conversations on plane with
hikjackers; about being sleepy; getting shirt from hijackers;
offering ey drops; chat over tea about children; story re son;
last day, hijacker crying in remorse)
Q: changed yr view of K issue
'there no excuse ... whole issue sd be taken up by our govt
$s first priority ... K issue not going to be sorted out with
j?ak, that's for sure ... offered us citizenship of K, sd as
special concession we won't tax you ... something has to be done |
