Q: if 47 had managed to settle Kashmir, how wd t have changed
face of Pak and s Asia
A: 'if K had been decided in accordance with th basic principles
of the settlement ... I tink we wd have v good relations ... all
this bitterness and conflict cd have been avoided ... '

A: 'we are party to the K dispute ... it is imp, it i an
emotional issue, and I think Pak is incomplete without K, it's
as important as that, so I don't think any govt here can forget
about it, or enter into an agreement with I which does not give
the Kashmiris the right of self-determination'
Q: explain role of mil in public life in Pak
A: 'if we did not have this K dispute, perhaps the army wd not
have played such a prominent part in the life of Pak; if reins
with Ind had been good ... [thought not finished]'; Indian
antangonism towards Pak from start, accepted partition with
reservations

'after partn, Pak was created; it was created by one single
solitary man ... in Islamic world, dem has not succeeded
anywerhe from Maghreb right up to Indonesia .. there is no
democratic govt worth the name in this entire Islamic belt, cos
there is no law of political succession in Islam'
