- General Note:
- Biographical history: Kalim Sharifi was originally from Calcutta [Kolkatta]. He was jailed for his activism in the Quit India movement and in jail joined the Communist Party of India (CPI). He was an activist in the left-wing Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) in Caluctta. Sharifi was student of medicine in 1946. He left the CPI in 1948 and moved to Dhaka in 1950. He stayed in London between 1971 and 1972 to escape harassment. Sharifi later became a supporter of Awami League.
