Abstract:
Recordings and interviews in Alipur Sayyaidam, a mainly Syed village in Narowal district, Pakistan, a longstanding religious centre. Interviewees include Shaukat Ali Shirazi, a leading Syed member of the village; brothers Allah Rakha; a former Hindu, Muslim convert and Mishi Ram, a retired government servant; Mohammed Mir, tea stall owner and participant during Partition violence; Nasir Hussai, formerly of Pakistani Army.
