- The photograph is captioned: 'Weaving an Arindrano Lamba from the famous Tsienimparihy silk. In the days of slavery, great quantities of silk were produced on the vast undulating plains called Tsienimparihy. The industry has now almost died out because slavery was abolished in 1895 by M. La Roche, the French Governor. T.E. Buck'.
