- General Note:
- The photograph is captioned: 'Another view of a Malagasy tomb as seen in Betsileo. Everybody from near and far turn out to a funeral, because usually oxen are killed and the meat is divided up among the mourners. A usual sight on any Betsileo road or path after a funderal is men carrying hunks of raw beef attached to the end of a long stick which is carried over their shoulders. T.E. Buck'.
