The photograph is captioned: 'A jolly crowd of Malagasy mothers and children after a festive evening in the Mission Compound. It is a little Xmas party. Very few Malagasy girls are given dolls by their parents, so kind people in England usually send us a box of dolls each year to be distributed among the girls in the Home. These dolls are very greatly prized. Xmas in Madagascar is very, very hot. T.E. Buck'
