As regards the proposed railway here—which should connect Pakhoi with Nanning, a distance of some 90 miles—there never was much probability of its construction, and the opening of the West River will defer it indefinitely. (3) The West The extent to which the opening of that river is affecting River. Pakhoi cannot yet be fairly gauged, since the Wuchow returns for September quarter only are to hand.
