Report on the Trade of Chefoo for the Year 1907
By Me. Consul Moktimoke.
Net trade of the port.—The year 1906 was marked by a general

falling-off in the trade during 1906:—
(1) The buyers from Manchuria, who used to regularly visit

able to make their purchases at Dalny, where Japanese merchants
supply goods specially made for the northern markets at the same
prices as the Chefoo merchants are able to buy them in the first
instance in Japan; and a considerable saving in transportation
charges being effected when goods are purchased at Dalny, it is only
natural that the northern merchants should favour this port at the
expense...”
