Notes
- Abstract:
- A lacquered and gilded piece made for the presentation of documents to the Rev. Dr R.L. Howard in his role as Associate Secretary of the American Baptists Foreign Missionary Society by the Burma Theological Society in 1937. The trip marked a return to the country after 15 years spent teaching at Judson College, named in honour of the first American Baptist missionary, Adoniram Judson (1788-1850). The tube, specially made to hold a written message, is variously called kyi-dauk or sa-dauk, the latter translated as ‘letter tube’. (Text by John T.
